How this list is built
Sources
Publications come from OpenAlex, which indexes Crossref, PubMed, arXiv and university repositories. The monthly update also checks ORCID records, Crossref and CUNY Academic Works. Faculty come from the City Tech department directories.
What counts as an AI paper
The paper's title uses specific AI terms (machine learning, neural network, LLM, computer vision, NLP and so on); or OpenAlex classifies it under an AI topic; or the abstract uses at least two such terms. Each paper shows the evidence that qualified it.
Verified vs. unverified
Verified papers list City Tech as this person's affiliation, or sit on their own ORCID record. Unverified papers only share an OpenAlex author profile, and for common names that profile often merges different people. Tiers count verified papers only.
Tiers
Not on roster yet
People who publish with a City Tech affiliation but aren't in the directories loaded so far (mostly the technology and engineering departments). They need at least four City Tech papers, with one in the last six years, to appear here. Confirm their status before relying on it.
Limits
Publication records miss conference talks, grants, teaching, patents and industry work. Treat this list as a starting point for outreach, not a ranking of people.
